Approximately 40 thousand music lovers from all over Üsküdar and Istanbul gathered at the giant concert hall established in Harem Square for the magnificent concert of the Evgeny Grinko orchestra. Speaking at the event, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen said, ‘A full and deep season of culture and arts awaits the people of Üsküdar.’ The concert, which lasted approximately one and a half hours, gave the people of Üsküdar and Istanbul very enjoyable moments, while the famous musician Evgeny Grinko fascinated everyone with his piano and drum performances. Many people who could not enter the area watched the concert on the giant screens installed.  

The heart of culture and art, the friend of art and artists, continues to beat in Üsküdar through the activities carried out by Üsküdar Municipality. Üsküdar, which is the meeting point for Istanbulites with the events organized, continues to maintain this feature in the new season. Üsküdar Municipality, which completed all its preparations for the 2021-2022 Culture and Art Season , opened the season with the concert of world-famous Russian musician Evgeny Grinko . 

Evgeny Grinko Fascinated with His Performance

Thousands of people from Üsküdar and various districts of Istanbul filled the concert area hours in advance for the concert of young pianist and drummer Evgeny Grinko, who won hearts with his song “Valse”, which was watched more than 30 million times, and made his name known to the world in a short time. When the concert time came, Harem Square turned into a magnificent feast area that witnessed an extraordinary performance. 

Grinko: “For me, music is the language of emotions”

The artist, who greeted those who came to listen to him by saying “My name is Evgeny Grinko, here are my friends” in Turkish , made the following statements about the universality of music:

“ Music is a universal language. When we speak a language among ourselves, we use words that have meaning, but none of them have the meaning of the notes. It’s like a foreign language, you understand what it means but you can’t explain it to anyone else. For me, music is the language of emotions and everyone gives meaning to music with their emotions .”

Evgeny Grinko added his skills on the guitar and drums, as well as the piano, to his stage performance with a large violin family and 5 accordion musicians. In the concert, which lasted approximately 1.5 hours, the Russian pianist performed “Valse”, “Epilogue”, “Carousel”, “Faulkner’s Sleep”, “Field”, “Once Upon A Time”, “Prologue”, “Noir”, “Winter Sunshine”. He performed his compositions such as “ and “Serenade” . During the concert, the artist was accompanied by Vlada Ponyatovskaya, Anna Romanova and Pavel Mazkevich on violin, Yana Chekina on cello, and Evgenya Popova on accordion. 

The concert, which turned Harem Square into a magnificent feast with nearly 40 thousand music lovers and a giant stage platform, was also broadcast live on the social media accounts of Üsküdar Municipality. Many people who could not enter the area watched the concert on the giant screens installed.

Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen, who took the stage before the concert ; He said that they were happy to bring together such an important, world-famous musician with the people of Üsküdar. Stating that a rich season of culture and arts awaits the people of Üsküdar, Türkmen said: “People of Üsküdar, dear Istanbulites, love, young people, dear art lovers, welcome to our concert of Evgeny Grinko, one of the world’s leading musicians. As you know, we could not hold many of our planned concerts and events due to the pandemic. But as a result of the measures taken, we have slowly started to come together and meet our longings. Üsküdar has always been the city of love, brotherhood and peace until today. In addition, it has managed to become the center of art, culture, music and colorful events. . We are now opening our 2021-22 culture and arts season with a magnificent concert. This year, an extraordinary culture and arts season full of concerts, exhibitions and talks awaits Istanbulites in Üsküdar. From painting to sculpture, from art workshops to concerts, from books to eye-opening talks, Üsküdar residents will be satisfied with art and culture in all areas. We will host cultural and artistic events in beautiful venues, especially Nevmekanlar. This year, a full and deep culture and art season awaits the people of Üsküdar. We look forward to meeting all Üsküdar and Istanbul residents at these events.”
